Mission Statement
The Turning Point operates within the context of the Salvation Army, which is a Christian orginization. The program draws upon this foundation, but functions in a way that is inclusive to all while maintaining a commitment to its larger context.
The Program
The Turning Point program offers a minimum stay of 28 days. It is an addiction rehabilitation program for men experiencing substance abuse and chemical dependency issues. The Turning Point program works in partnership with The Salvation Army Harbour Light Center, which offers a minimum stay of 90 days. Upon completion of our program request referrals may be made to the Harbour Light center for assesment and possible admittance. We will also make arrangements for referrals to ther Treatment Centers.
Residents Rights
To be treated with dignity and respect.
To be personally safe and secure from outside interference.
To receive treatment and service that are timely and of good quality.
To be able to voice your opinion without fear of reprisal.
Have a safe place for your belongings at all times.
To be able to receive reasonable answers to your questions.
Have access to your own program file.
All counseling to be confidential.
Referral to other services when needed (doctor etc).
Residents Responsibilties
Show respect towards other residents and staff of this centre.
Act in a manner that is courteous and safe to others.
Co-operate with the rules of the centre and the program.
Provide staff with all information that is pertinent to your recovery.
Willingly do your housekeeping work details to the best of your ability.
Maintain your personal hygiene and laundry needs.
No acts of violence out of resentment towards others.
Observe the quiet times (lights out, etc.)
Do not bring weapons or any illegal chemical substances into the centre.
Be serious in actively working towards your personal recovery.

Provisions of 3 meals per day, access to clothing and attention to basic needs
Criteria for Admission
Male between the ages of 18 and 65
Not employed or seeking employment
Willing to live in a residence
Not activly suicidal/homicidal
No aggressive behavior or criminal history requiring constant supervision
Chemical free excluding non-addictive prescription drugs
No present medical problem that would conflict with the program
Willingness to pay for the program when personal income is avaliable
Openness to explore options in recovery including the Spiritual
Referral and Intake
The Turning Point program accepts self referrals either in-house assessment or through faxed application. An application must be filled out before being considered for admittance.
When an application is recieved it will be reviewed and processed within 14 buisness days. A letter will be sent to the client to inform them if they will be offered a place in the program.
Intakes are done Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm, and by appoinment only.
