Centre Counselling for Homeless Men and Men with Alcohol and Chemical Dependencies
WE HAVE A PLACE
The Salvation Army with a total of 381 beds can accommodate up to 260 homeless men each night.
The other beds are dedicated to programs that are run at the center, beds and private rooms are avaliable to clients that wish to pay for a place to stay.
The center remains opne to needy men 24/7.
The Maxwell Meighen Centre is the second largest hostel in Metro Toronto.
WE HAVE A COUNSELLING PROGRAM
All clients have access to the services of the Counselling Department. Experienced Counsellors provide individual and group support to clients who are attempting to address specific goals as part of their efforts to re-enter the larger community.
Referrals can be made to a variety of community agencies to assist the consumer with housing, job training, education, addiction treatment, medical care and employment.
In addition, the Counselling Department has established relationships with a variety of Social Service Agencies. As such, clients can be made aware of government programs that can help them re-establish themselves in the community and secure the appropriate financial assistance.
COUNSELLING AND REFERRAL SERVICES
Clients are provided counselling services while staying at the Maxwell Meighen Center. For more information clients can speak with the intake workers.
WE HAVE TRAINED STAFF/COUNSELLORS
Counselling personnel at The Salvation Army Maxwell Meighen Centre are a rather diverse group. Together, they bring a wealth of formal academic training and experiential learning to the counselling relationship.
All counsellors have received training at the college or university level and are required to pursue ongoing professional development as part of their commitment to excellence. Their combined expertise is in the areas of mental health, addiction, program development and life skills coaching.

WE HAVE OTHER PROGRAMS
Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Program: Those who desire to commit themselves to treatment, make appointments through the Program Co-ordinator.
Pastoral Care: Salvation Army Officers will assist the consumer with spiritual needs. Chapel Services are held Tuesdays and Sundays at 7:00 p.m.
Morning Devotions are held Monday to Friday at 8:30 a.m. for staff and clients.
Clothing: Is supplied to enable men to restore and maintain their dignity and self-respect and work clothing is supplied for job opportunities.
A.A. Meetings are held on Wednesday evenings at 8:00 p.m.
C.A Meetings are held on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
Double Recovery is held on Fridays at 1:00 p.m. (Mental Health and Addictions Support Group)
Primary Support Unit: A fourteen bed crisis stabilization program for men experiencing emotional difficulties.
